Princess outfit for a 2 year old :)

I had so much fun with this the other night. Did you know walmart sells boutique outfits now for little girls? 15 dollars for a few cheaply made pieces. Pass.

This is so much cuter in my opinion!

What I did:

No Sew Tutu (I made the waist about 18 inches, and it fits my three year old) the tulle was 3 yards of light pink and 3 yards of hot pink and then I sewed the elastic in a loop before I tied on the tulle

Nylon headband with flower

Freezer paper stencil with fabric paint and permanent fabric glue rhinestones

Happy Birthday Morgan!

Tiny Dancer

I have been so inspired by all the fun ruffles out there these days. Yesterday I bought an outfit for Ellie that had ruffles on the neck of the onesie and was excited to make an outfit myself with ruffles.

I made the pants from a tshirt I was getting rid of. There's so many ways of doing it you can find online, but I just took some pants she had and traced them and made my own. I added the ruffles to the booty after they were finished.

Freezer paper stencilled and added tulle and rhinestones

and of course a matching headband! :)

Altered shirt/dress

One thing I have been enjoying lately is altering old shirts of mine. I figure, the fabric has already been bought and the hems can be used too, so why not!

Here's one I did last week:

Into this:

I would show you the back but she wasn't really wanting to model that day. It looks the same as the front though.

Bow Ties!

Has anyone been hanging out here or here this month? I have been so inspired from these two blogs this month for my boys!

I saw a blog post about bow ties and just had to buy the pattern. (Which is very rare for me, but I couldn't resist!)

Here's my two guys modeling their ties...which they loved wearing. I think the best part was I actually learned how to legitimately tie a bow tie! (I made three during naptime yesterday...twenty minutes a piece)

Love One Another

Instead of just focusing on the romantic love, take this day to love everyone you come in contact with.

John 13:34-35 (New King James Version)

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Closet Lock for Mirrored Doors

I love my boys, just not their messes.

It was getting to be out of control. Especially when the 2 1/2 year old decided that each day he needed to dress himself about 6 times, resulting in clothes everywhere; hamper filling, on the floor,  in the closet, etc. The toys would all be taken out every day and tossed about. It was chaos. I was threatening to move everything out of the bedroom.

I kept saying "If only we could lock the closet!"

So my brilliant husband came up with a solution. All for 3 dollars at Lowe's.

Suction cup hook on the door!

Brilliant. And plus, if they want a specific toy that may be in the closet, they can ask for it (like all the toys that involve a million pieces) and it has decreased my laundry by a lot.

Ah, the little things in life.

A little birdie dress

So the other day I had the itch to create something. I had a dress pattern here I bought a long time ago and had never tried, and not feeling too creative, I went with it.

This girl doesn't do patterns well. I dont have the patience for them. To me, they are just a confusing mess of nonsense. Something about followinf directions.

So after having to call my mom for help over the phone, and more time wasted than it was worth, I ended up just doing my own thing.

For the bird "applique", I cheated and cut the bird out and sewed it on using the button hole stitch on my sewing machine.

I made a matching burp cloth and headband with it too :)

Fabric Flower Clips

The other night I needed a hair accessory to spruce up a shirt I was wearing so I decided to make some flower clips.

I used:

hot glue
fabric
tulle
pearls
hair clips
stretchy lace

To make, I just freehanded a bunch of sizes of five petal styled flowers, layered with tulle scraps. For the centers, I added some pearls from an old necklace that I was never going to wear again. Hot glue each letter and attach to a clip.

I made one and decided it needed to be a headband, so I tied a piece of stretchy lace around my head, and then attached the clip to the headband. I added  two more flower clips from there. That way, everything is interchangable and not permanent!

The whole time I did this, my sweet baby girl was sleeping next to me, and so I decided she needed one too and did the same process.

altered jacket

My sister in law made this adorable jacket for Ellie at Christmas! What a fun idea to get a denin jacket and embelish it as girly as you want!

Its been fun seeing what I made a few months on our baby girl!

And I am learning what I need practice on with certain parts of outfits, haha. Its not a good picture, but here is Miss Eloise in this dress and shoes
