Hiding in my garden

Apparently, while I was busy growing a human since last Spring, my garden was busy growing carrots!

Poor garden; so neglected and forlorn. I should have taken a picture of what it looked like before I started weeding it! It still has a ways to go before I start gardening in there again, but all in due time. I am not really concerned about that right now :)

Happy Birthday JJ!

Three years ago, I had my sweet, blonde hair, blue eyed baby Jackson in my arms. Happy Birthday Jackson!

A Doll named "Oh"

This is Ellie’s doll named “Oh” (She named her herself.) She talks to Oh, smiles at Oh, chews on Oh. Ellie loved Oh before she even had a face! I made this doll (just the body, no face or hair or anything) the same month Ellie came about (also around the same time as this doll was created) and put it away and forgot about it. I discovered it the other day and Ellie just adored it so I finished it up for her. I added a smile to her this time. I have read to not complete the faces on dolls to promote imaginative play, but Ellie is such a smiley girl, I thought Oh needed a smile too.

Another Repurposed Dress

Thanks again to Aunt Olivia, here is another tshirt turned dress. This will be so cute with a little onesie underneath and some leggings.

Onesie Dress

I made this and thought I would share the link on how to make it:

The best part about making clothes is how you can always embellish it to make it your own!

Fleur Tshirt Dress

I bought a pattern from Lil Blue Boo (one of my favorite blogs) and made a dress from two tshirts. Gotta love the "auntie hand-me-downs" from Aunt Olivia

The best part of this pattern is that it goes up to size 6. I see a lot of these dresses in Miss Ellie's future.  And I love repurposing old clothes into something new.

Two things I learned. Sergers don't like pins or rhinestones. I keep thinking about redoing the collar on it, but otherwise, I really like this. It looks a bit more bunchy in the picture than it is in real life though. I should have taken the time to lay it out better. Oh well.

Happy day!

Make Pants!

Is your family as big of fans as lounging around in sweatpants as my family is? Then stop spending $15 dollars+ on pants and make your own!

Even adult pants only need to be about 5 dollars tops. Just use your favorite existing pair as a pattern and trace onto knit fabric!

Felt Baby Shoes

...made with this felt thats from recycled plastic. Double cool! Embellished with rhinestones and lace.

I used this pattern, which was only 2.99 at JoAnn Fabrics. It really wasy very easy to do. I am going to do the baby mocs next :)

Shirred Dress

This week when I took Ellie to the doctor for her two month check up, the doctor told me that "she is the tallest girl in the class." It's true! She is in that in-between stage of her clothes (you know that annoying nothing fits right stage...mommy is going through it too!) So off we went, looking for some clothes in the next size up.  It sure seems like everything looks the same after shopping all day!

I whipped up this dress in about an hour-give or take with feeding a baby girl who didnt care about her new dress. I shirred the top (from two rectangles) and then made straps and hemmed. Super easy and the best part is, the fabric was a remnant at the store, so it only cost me a few dollars (with the elastic)! I made it on the larger side so that she can grow into it...I guess she's still got an outfit thats "in between".

Vintage Pattern Find

This year for Easter, I am planning on making all three outfits for the kids. We'll see if it happens.

In the meantime, check out this little find, as I was looking through vintage patterns:

Can you read what is highlighted in purple? Is that really p.c.? Hm.

My name is Rebecca and I am addicted to Baby Pants.

Seriously. Why didn't I make these when the boys were babies?! They are so cute, comfy and hello! Free!

Here's a pair I made yesterday from a shirt I bought too big at Old Navy. Hmm...return the 1.50 shirt? Or make some pants? Pants please!

And here are the pants I made Saturday on Miss Ellie Pants:

And last night, I used my new serger bought with money from our old tv (Thanks to my awesome husband for sharing!) and made these pants and headband from an old shirt:

(The onesie was freezer paper stenciled and rhinstones. and the bow is actually a bow tie from Jaden's little tuxedo)
