Boutique THIS Saturday!

@ the Grove church on Queen Creek and Gilbert Road. 9 am- 2pm!

Looks like some fun vendors are going to be there, so come check it out if you can!

This recent painting (and the tree I did) will be among all my sewing and necklace goods :) (I am really enjoying painting. I think my favorite way of painting is just painting something in my head rather than from something in real life or from a photograph)

My Valentine's Gift

I gave him the painting...he knew I had painted something but had no idea what it was. It was a really touching moment. He told me that it was a true Valentine's gift because I painted what he loves. (well ya know...besides me of course. wink wink)

Jackson's eyes are so blue. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Micah is already trying to figure out where to hang it.

(I dont think he knew the camera was taking his picture too. (and now that it has dried, the background on the painting doesnt look so crazy weird in spots.)

My husband's Valentines gift...

shh...its a secret :)
I had help choosing clothing colors (Jaden insisted on making sure his hat looked just like his favorite hat.) I did a quick sketch of what I pictured in my head and then went for it. First time I have done that...usually I go by a photo.

Because the paint is still so wet, the camera caught weird glares off of the painting, so I couldnt get a very good picture. The brush strokes look bad here and the colors are too dark. in person, they are very vibrant.

I just need to get a frame for it and hope it dries in a week. I am kind of pushing it. I hope he likes it!

Grandma's Sunflowers

My first painting without any instruction! I accidentally left it out and Jackson totally smeared purple allllll over it, but i cleaned it up with some gamsol and repainted the smeared spots...and it helped it. Sigh.

I just need to sign it and frame it! Pin It

My very first oil painting.

Well I survived my first class! It was a very long day (I have been dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck that gives me awful headaches for months now...not fun) but I do think that it was really worth it.

I took pictures step by step so i can break it down when I try to paint again, but I do think it was a great class to take to start out. I was the only one in the class who had never painted before, so it was hard sometimes to keep up with everyone. It was so daunting to start out with this canvas that had barely no marks on it, and just go for it. There were a couple of times I almost punch a hole through it (ok not really...maybe though...) or threw it across the room, but I stuck it through and finished it and didnt even have to go get a paint by numbers after all! :) I will definitely be doing more.

The more I look at it, the more I pick it apart, so I just wont look at it. I do think the colors and dimension look better in person. the colors just dont look the same in the picture.

Funny story...I am left handed...which often presented a problem with some of the curves and lines painting, so I figured out how to just paint it upside down. It looked pretty funny.

...yeah, it does look better in person. or maybe i am just saying that. :)

Oil Painting Class :)

Today I have been given a fun opportunity to take my first oil painting class! Going to Hobby Lobby and taking a class with an outside teacher.  Its been really hard finding someone that teaches oil painting locally, (not even the colleges offer any continuing ed classes on it).

It is all day, so hopefully I will be able to post a picture late this afternoon before I lose the natural lighting.  I am really excited to do this. My great grandmother was a painter, and I have never even attempted this beautiful art.

As Jaden says, "I'm soooo excITING!"
