My kids are always asking for change, and I feel like i never have any on me. Or if I do, its clanging around loose in my purse. And wouldn't it be nice to pay for that sonic drink that you treat yourself to during happy hour with some spare change on hand?
The wallet I use is a clutch wallet, which doesn't really leave room for much of anything. I had seen some cute coin purses on pinterest and thought it would be nice to have one of my own.
I went to Joann's and bought the frame (I believe its under 5.00 before a coupon) and assumed it would be easy to put together. Well......it was easy to put together but only because I found a great pattern and tutorial to use.
After looking at a few tutorials, I used this one HERE. So easy!
The inner and outer fabric is from Hobby Lobby, and although i didnt take a picture of the inside, its the same fabric as the "R" I machined sewed on.

Vintage Frame Upcycle
Over the summer, I scored two vintage bubble glass metal frames similiar to the ones in these ebay listings for 1.00. I was so excited with this find because I knew I could transform it into something suitable for our home!
I did not take a before picture, because I thought I was only going to use one, so I would have had the "before" in the other one. But spur of the moment, we grabbed the other one and did that as well.
From the onset, my husband did NOT like these. I kept telling him after some spray paint and our own pictures, it wouldn't look anything like he was seeing and to trust me. When we redid our couch wall, I had wanted to incorporate them then, and my husband held fast to his disdain for them.
After I made this picture frame a couple of weeks ago, he actually mentioned to me that one might not look bad if it was hung on a piece of wood and painted. I jumped on the opportunity as fast as I could, before he changed his mind on me.
We had a piece of wood here, and he used the router to put an edge on it and then we painted it to contrast the metal frame. I hung the frame on a nail we put into the wood. I really liked it, but he wasn't as keen on the idea.
Which came back to my original idea *now his idea* to spray paint the two frames and hang them up. :)
Since the bubble glass had the picture attached. I just used it as a template and cut a piece of thin acrylic as the "glass" and then cut the 8 x 10 out to fit as well.
I love them. I think that wall needs a little something more with them, but for now, it works!

Baby Legs as Sock Buns
I keep losing my sock buns though. I would take a long sock from my husband, cut off the foot and roll it up but then it would go missing and I would end up stealing another sock.
The other day, I was looking for a sock bun and noticed my daughter's baby legs (leg warmers) I had used to do sock bun curls (a different technique and also a great use for these!) and realized it would be perfect to roll up and use for my sock bun!
Here's a how to video to do the sockbun with your hair and a how to video for sock bun curls that I also mentioned.

The chupacabra came for tea
I have to say this winter has been very mild for sickness compared to last year! Unfortunately our good streak ended last week, hence the lack of posts. Now I have all three kids sick and a double ear infection myself. Nothing worse than seeing your kids in pain and not being able to take it away from them.
Last night we were ALL up every hour all night and I have my oldest one crying in my lap right now from ear pain. We all missed church this morning as well.
Our dog Blitzen has actually been proving himself to be a good dog around here afterall, sleeping in our daughter's room at night, and now even stopping for a cup of tea!

Decorate Dollar Store Dishes
I have been eyeing up those fun face plates for a few years, trying to decide if it was worth the money to shell out for 1, then 2, and now 3 plates to entice my children to eat different food. It's not that they are over the top pricey or anything.
I had a plain white coffee mug sitting in my cabinet, begging to be decorated. I went to Michael's and purchased this porcelain paint pen:
Then I decorated both sides of the coffee mug. Because everyone needs a cute mug to drink out of.
I'm a lefty. And you be the judge- morning bed head or crazy chasing kids all day hair?
Here's the other side:
Well then it got me to thinking. I bet I could freehand a face on a plate for the kids. It might not be perfect but it would do the job!
They are already a big hit. Something about ranch and beards...
Make sure to follow the directions on the porcelain paint pen!

Make your own Chevron Fabric
I really like the fun bright colors and patterns that are trendy right now. One of my favorite prints is the chevron pattern. So when I saw this fun skirt that was featured on U-Create, I knew I wanted to recreate it for my little Bean in a chevron design as well!
Since I didnt have any chevron fabric handy, I decided to make my own using supplies that I had here!
I used the silhouette software using the "chevron border" and copied and pasted it to make a stencil on freezer paper:
After your fabric is dry, you can then use it however you'd like!
Definitely a hit with my little one! I think I might even make one for myself in black!

DIY a Thrifty Frame
What do these two frames have in common? (Not the best quality, I took these pictures with my phone)
You would be surprised!
I picked up one at a yard sale for a quarter then saw a cute pin on pinterest that inspired me (LINK HERE) I picked up the other frame at the thrift store for 2.00.
I added a little spray paint, covered the roosters with some mod podged scrapbook paper and then glued on the metal frame!
I love the results!

Boy's Cardigan Pattern and Tutorial
I saw this idea on pinterest originally, which prompted me to make a pattern up for my sons! Its a cardigan made from a men's sweater.
The idea had the buttons sewn directly on, rather than having buttonholes, but I really like the buttonholes and the option to open the sweater. Pair it with a nice shirt and tie, and its a really thrifty project that makes your little guy look like a million bucks!
There are two pdf''s. One is the pattern (print and make sure the box is an inch!) and the other is the tutorial. Be kind, its my first one! These are for sizes 4/5 and 6/7.

Blogging
Hi to anyone out there!
Looks like I took another month off of blogging. That's so bad of me! Honestly, I do so many fun ideas that I see on Pinterest, I havent really been coming up with my own ideas lately to share. Is it ok to post projects I do from Pinterest as long as I give credit? I mean, I did it before directly from other crafter's blogs and still credited, right?
Another reason why I don't blog as often is because....my blog doesn't "look" cool. Isn't that silly? I haven't had the time to spend to sit down and try to figure out how to revamp it.
So as long as you don't judge a blog by its cover, and as long as you don't mind a mix of "copy crafting" and orginal stuff, I would love to get back to blogging!
I have a fun tutorial coming for sewists' of boys! Here's a sneak peak :)
