DIY little girls' necklace

I miss blogging!

I took a summer break and now that school has started back up, I figured I would start blogging again too!

I thought I would start with this fun and totally simple little girls' necklace my little Ellie and I made last night to go with her new chevron skirt (like the outfit I posted about here).

To begin, all you need is some wooden beads, some satin ribbon, paint of your choice and I like to seal the beads with a clear spray as well. Its such an easy way to accessorize an outfit and to make your little one feel special!

After I painted each one, I stuck them on a skewer not touching each other to dry. This also helped to take them outside and rotate as I sealed them with the clear spray.

Super simple necklace complete!

My little one loves them!

Leila and Ben Little Cap

This morning I was perusing blogs and saw a pattern that I was checking out, that then led me to this one.

Ok, usually I am not one to buy patterns, but I have been doing so lately because 1. it is so much easier to use measurements and patterns already done for me 2. i love that most of them go from little up to bigger sizes!

So on an impulse, I got this one, and whipped out a hat for my middle guy. I want to do another one with the argyle on it like the example on the pattern! The first one was more to see how it would turn out. He liked it!

Perfect little corduroy hat for this blustery windy cold day!

Flower Accessories

Yes, I know this isn't a ruffle skirt tutorial.  To be honest, I haven't really had the time or motivation to do much of anything "extra" lately.  Having three kids so young, being so involved with church, keeping up with the housework (that feels like it is really a losing battle sometimes), dealing with stuff,  and focusing on my own personal relationship with God makes everything else just "extra".  But I am not apologizing or regretting any of it! Just wanted to say that there will be one...just not yet.

I do want to talk about flower hair accessories. And bows too. I love them. I have worn them for a few years and I love how they can change any outfit up a bit. Ok, not any outfit. There's where my problem lies. What's your opinion on grown women wearing these? Lately, I have been seeing them worn in a way that is just not jiving. So it causes me to wonder, should I or shouldn't I? Is it all about the outfit? The confidence in it? The hair style? All of the above? I am thinking all of the above.

Here's a couple of pictures I took with my cell phone the other day:

Eloise rockin' her flowers.

Daisys

....and then me, attempting the same.

Mamas

I guess as long as I still feel "pretty" wearing them, then it's not really a big deal. And really, in the grand scheme of things, its not a big deal at all. Just putting some of the crazy thoughts in my head out there for all to see. :)

Til next time....

Princess outfit for a 2 year old :)

I had so much fun with this the other night. Did you know walmart sells boutique outfits now for little girls? 15 dollars for a few cheaply made pieces. Pass.

This is so much cuter in my opinion!

What I did:

No Sew Tutu (I made the waist about 18 inches, and it fits my three year old) the tulle was 3 yards of light pink and 3 yards of hot pink and then I sewed the elastic in a loop before I tied on the tulle

Nylon headband with flower

Freezer paper stencil with fabric paint and permanent fabric glue rhinestones

Happy Birthday Morgan!

Tiny Dancer

I have been so inspired by all the fun ruffles out there these days. Yesterday I bought an outfit for Ellie that had ruffles on the neck of the onesie and was excited to make an outfit myself with ruffles.

I made the pants from a tshirt I was getting rid of. There's so many ways of doing it you can find online, but I just took some pants she had and traced them and made my own. I added the ruffles to the booty after they were finished.

Freezer paper stencilled and added tulle and rhinestones

and of course a matching headband! :)
