Testing some headshots on my sister

Last Friday was pretty overcast and I needed to check lighting for some pictures. My beautiful sister let me (didnt have much of a choice...not that she minded :)) take some quick shots of her.

Guess where we are going today?

3 boys under the age of 3+the happiest place on earth=3X the fun! We are going to surprise Jaden!

I used:
plain blue tshirts
black fabric
black thread
fusible interfacing

Cut out my shapes in both the fabric and the interfacing, iron on, and then stitched around the shape three times a piece...I still need to trim threads a bit.

Key Finder

I love big purses. And because of my love for big purses, I am always losing my keys in them. I used to have a really nice little sparkly crown key holder but alas, it broke (which I think maybe my husband was slightly grateful for).

Well after about a year, I had enough. It gets old always looking for my keys... so I made this.

Now my husband is really complaining about the keys...but I have to have SOME pink in my life!
Next time I post, I will be in California! See ya there!

"My Favorite Pieces" Page Layouts

My friend Michelle just had the opportunity to design a paper line for the Paper Element. This weekend is CHA and Michelle asked if I would do a page or two for the papers to display in their booth! Of course I would!

Here is my first page:

My Favorite Pieces
Sparkle letters from american craft
Martha Stewart glitter
Making Memories tags (and metal tab too)
Screen Prints journaling circle
brad and rhinestones

Here is my second page... I like the first better, but this one isnt too bad... just feel like its missing something. the notebook paper accents from this kit is so fun.

My Favorite Pieces
wooden stars
my cutter to cut the letters and circle out
felt
metal tag and curling ribbon

Cant wait until the line comes out so I can do a mini album with it! Pin It

Digital Frames

I am up wide awake, while everyone around me is snoring...story of my life. My big guy just woke up calling from his big boy top bunk "Come here come here". He does that a lot. Sleep talks...and sleep walks. Its kind of scary sometimes.

Anyway, I have been drooling over these frames at Thompson Family-Life for a bit now...the price is great because you can use them over and over and over. Every once in awhile, digital really grabs me. You can even change the colors on these! I went for the gold for all three examples this time. Yep...went for the gold. Mostly because everytime I changed the color, when I transferred the picture, everything turned the color. What am I missing here.
What a little stud. If I ever need a picture in a pinch, he is my go-to man...boy. I love him.

And look at this little guy. The full picture of this is hilarious. His outfit is so cool though, its my husband's from 1978 :) I love him too. And my husband.

Maybe now I can go to sleep...or keep listening for the rain that we are getting...which also grabs me. I love rain....and sparkling cider....and these digital frames...and thanks to a certain someone, Fry's French bread. So good. You could eat it plain...or with sparkling cider, while playing with digital frames, listening to the rain.

Ok, must try to get to bed now!

My very first oil painting.

Well I survived my first class! It was a very long day (I have been dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck that gives me awful headaches for months now...not fun) but I do think that it was really worth it.

I took pictures step by step so i can break it down when I try to paint again, but I do think it was a great class to take to start out. I was the only one in the class who had never painted before, so it was hard sometimes to keep up with everyone. It was so daunting to start out with this canvas that had barely no marks on it, and just go for it. There were a couple of times I almost punch a hole through it (ok not really...maybe though...) or threw it across the room, but I stuck it through and finished it and didnt even have to go get a paint by numbers after all! :) I will definitely be doing more.

The more I look at it, the more I pick it apart, so I just wont look at it. I do think the colors and dimension look better in person. the colors just dont look the same in the picture.

Funny story...I am left handed...which often presented a problem with some of the curves and lines painting, so I figured out how to just paint it upside down. It looked pretty funny.

...yeah, it does look better in person. or maybe i am just saying that. :)

Oil Painting Class :)

Today I have been given a fun opportunity to take my first oil painting class! Going to Hobby Lobby and taking a class with an outside teacher.  Its been really hard finding someone that teaches oil painting locally, (not even the colleges offer any continuing ed classes on it).

It is all day, so hopefully I will be able to post a picture late this afternoon before I lose the natural lighting.  I am really excited to do this. My great grandmother was a painter, and I have never even attempted this beautiful art.

As Jaden says, "I'm soooo excITING!"

While my husband's at the Cardinals game...

I could be doing a whole bunch of stuff I need to get done...but I think wihle the boys are sleeping, I am going to use this Sunday as a true day of rest. I just got home from a great true Italian meal that my dad made (with 4 courses!) so I am totally stuffed. The boys are finally resting for the first time since their eyes opened this morning (whew!) and I need a break.

I do want to share the class samples from the upcoming Sweetheart workshop I am a part of teaching at Devine Memories on Saturday, February 7th. The class is 6 dollars, or $35 for 7 classes!!

Knitted Hat...(I cheated.)

Made this little number while I watched the boys play online at  playhousedisney.com today (It baffles me how fast Jaden learned how to use the computer).

I cheated with it. I am going to try to learn how to knit this year, but for now, I am using those knifty knitters from provo craft. I bought the set of four looms after I kept hearing about how cool they were from my mom and grandma. I resisted for about a year, but finally caved in and got it with Christmas money from my grandma. She sent me a book that I am excited to get and see what else I can do!

Really, it took me an hour with a lot of interruptions. I should have made it a few rows longer, but not too bad for my first attempt! And you really feel like you accomplish something too! I am going to make a few more of these. Jaden wants one (He loves hats of any kind) and my sister wants one too.

And I started this scarf last night...

Aprons (x2)

Custom order for Kim at the KTBowtique! Hopefully its just what she was looking for!

I made two: (I have said this before, apron pictures are hard to take when you are home alone, but this at least shows the colors, just not the shape too well) the pink fabric is heidi grace...fun!

Thanks Kim! I hope you guys like them!!

quilt in progress

I recently received a bag of quilt squares (yes, already cut! how cool is that?! I do not like cutting) that were found at my husband's grandmother's house. I don't know what she was going to do with them (I so wish I did though), but I figured it would be cool to make two quilts out of them for each of the boys. The one pictured here is going to be a fray quilt I think and is for Jack. We laid out how it should be sewn and now it just needs to be put together. The other quilt I am going to make is for Jaden, who requested a train quilt after he saw a fun magazine from my mother in law.

Of course I will post pictures when it's done :) Pin It
