I spy with my little eye....

something.....fun!

I spied these on etsy today and would love to have ordered one but it wouldn't get here in time before we leave, and its fun to make your own!

I used scrap fabric and rice on one, plastic pellets on the other. I prefer the rice...as its safer and environmentally better, but the plastic is fun and you can see through it and shift through it easier. The window is vinyl from JoAnn's.

I did shrinky dink animals for the rice one, and random house objects for the other, and they will be a good little toy for the boys on the plane I think!

Rollin'

During nap time yesterday, I was sitting here wasting the quietness away when I stumbled upon this: On A Roll

So I thought to myself "Oh you can totally do that right now"...and I did. I think it took me about a half hour tops. I just used some scraps I had here and went to town. The most time consuming part was just measuring each row to sew.


Last night at Walgreen's, I picked up 4 coloring books for 29 cents a piece on clearance, so on the plane ride next week, Jaden and Jackson can color and the crayons wont be rolling around or falling out of the box or whatever!

I also want to add that my ipod heard my pleas and came back to me! It was tucked in Jackson's baby book under our desk and my sweet loving and patient husband found it for me :) Don't ya hate it when you look through a stack 18 times and then your husband comes along and finds it in the stack? I never would have looked in a book. Random. Pin It

You know who you are, your cute little pink self with your pretty inscription... please come back. I miss you! I have looked all over for you and am afraid you have left the house of sticky fingers (that would be two boys) to a better home. But I assure you, no one can give you as good of a home as me!!

The music has stopped in my world. I need you to come back to me!

Scrapbook Pages

Last night I had a nice evening at Devine Memories cropping and hanging out. It was a much needed break to just scrapbook and relax! I felt guilty about it at first because I had been out the night before too (which was so nice Melissa!) but I ended up staying until the end.

Aaaaand, I won a prize! (After we had just reminisced about Heidi Swapp visiting the store a couple of years ago and how star struck I had been) Yep..Heidi Swapp stamp!


So here are some new pages!


This one I started a few weeks ago. I scraplifted the LO from this month's issue of Creating Keepsakes . I realllllly like how it turned out, and the colors I picked for it are so pretty (If I do say so myself :))!
This was my first starting out for the night page...to get me going. There is zig zag hand stitching on the background circles and then black rhinestones on two of the corners.


This page is its second generation . The first page got ripped up and tossed away. I got mad at it.


This page I did a few weeks ago when I started the other "full of joy" page. Ahh, brothers.


Ad this one was fun. I just hand cut all the flourishes, and then the title was done with rub on letters and I filled in with blue paint to pop them up a bit (thanks for the tip Michelle!!). The P was done with a sharpie because I didn't have black paint on me and then I threw on the rhinestones as a last little pop.

What a fun scrapbook night! I really recommend everyone getting away alone to do something they enjoy every once in awhile. Pin It

Is it time for a haircut?

I just don't know. I am very torn on this. This of course is his morning hair. But even when I comb it, it gets so wild. And two different people asked me this week about my "daughter" ...yikes! The killer part was when the one guy asked about my daughter and I nicely told him "oh this is my son" he asked me "Well then why doesn't he have his hair cut like he does?" Because they are two different people! I just told him that he's the baby and I haven't had the nerve to cut it yet.

But when it is combed, he has the sweetest softest curls in the back! Micah and I both keep talking about how its the style to wear longer hair. We both keep going back and forth on it.


So if I were to get it cut, I just want it trimmed...but I dont want it looking like a mullet. How would I go about doing this?!

Gardening Glove Update

Since contacting the glove company with pictures of the experience I had using their product, I have been in touch several times with a very kind woman that has taken over this problem. She promptly sent UPS to my house to pick them up (it was really odd to have someone show up and take them for me like that unexpectedly) and after a couple of weeks she emailed me today to tell me she agrees it is very strange, that she is finding a lab to take these and to also pick out any two pairs in the catalog that I want since she knows I wont want the same product!!

I asked her to go ahead and pick them out for me (one of her suggestions) because I felt weird going in and picking out the most expensive ones since I spent 1-2 dollars on them....but then I do realized my arm skin was practically ripped off! Ah well. I trust her judgment. :)

So there ya have it. Stay tuned for the lab results. I am anxious to hear back about it!

Tie Dye

This week we all tie dyed some old shirts we had here (mainly stained white shirts) and then I appliquéd one of JJ's. The cool part about the appliqué was I traced his little hand so its true size. The not cool part that I just realized was I forgot to fold the thumb down. But, thats ok, I think it gives it more character. Here are three of the 6 we did :)

(And yes, I am blue and Jaden is red after the whole ordeal. I think Micah escaped from the dye and he didn't wear gloves!)

Latest Tent Installment

Worked on the tent a little bit yesterday, so I thought I would post new pictures. I decided to do a pom pom instead of flag so that the boys wouldn't have a new weapon of mass destruction.

Monkey Bathroom

Home with the Treslers continues as we take a peek into the Monkey Bathroom

I always says I would do the boys' bathroom differently once Jaden was potty trained, so back in January, Micah and I did this while he was sleeping. I should show the ugly before pictures of what we used to have...I do have pictures. I sold the old bathroom set at the yard sale for 5 bucks with the print. A steal for some one with that taste. I had been suckered into it back when we got the house. I am getting off subject....

Anyway, Jaden is our little Monkey Chicken, so we redid the bathroom for a great price in Monkey theme. (I did the vinyl today on the door and the walls)

Aim, Wash, Flush and Brush. Good motto for boys.

Jaden thinks it funny that the monkeys peek on him, so I put this one on the towels to keep him company.

Gotta have a monkey rug.

The stool, canvas and tissue box holder were already on hand, ready to be painted, so I matched them all to the shower curtain.

And last but not least, a tip for the day. To save water and laundry time, put a hook up for your towels you reuse. The boys' bathroom has 1 hook but both towels dry fast on it. Theres a frog underneath and then Monkey Chicken's.

Dont let them fool ya!

Aw. Two brothers. What a couple of cute kids. Sitting there like best friends. Big brother has his arm around his little brother like the Great Protector. Silly little smiles like they are just so sweet!

Sure, they are sweet. But they are also crazy! Look closely, and you can see the scrape by Jaden's eye because Jackson didn't get his way. One could even think that devious smile from Jackson is him plotting his next move. And Jaden, maybe that arm around him is about to be a choke hold, or a restraint to keep Jackson where he wants him....or the perfect spot to push him over. You don't see the tackles, the crying, the screaming and the darting away from the crime scene.

Did this all happen after the picture? Maybe. Maybe not.

Just don't let them fool ya. They may be cute, but it doesn't stop there! Brothers. :)

Just Don't Worry About It

I was just given specific instructions just to "not worry about the house work today" from Micah so I am going to try my hardest to do just that. It is just kind of one of those days that started way too early and has gone downhill since.

My mom needlepointed this when I was a baby and hung it in my room and I have always thought about this poem very fondly.....

The cleaning and scrubbing
will wait till tomorrow,
for Children grow up,
as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs.
Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby
and babies don't keep......

Cherry Cobbler!

Its cherry season and I am loving it!

I bought a 4 lb box of them this week and decided to make a cobbler a couple of days ago and the cobbler is about gone! Yum! And it only took 4 cups of cherries so we have a lot left over.

INGREDIENTS

* 6 T of butter

* 1 cup all-purpose flour

* 1 cup white sugar

*1 teaspoon baking powder

*1 teaspooon of vanilla

* dash of cinnamon

* 1 cup milk

* 4 cups of cherries pitted

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 275 degrees and place butter or margarine in 2 qt baking dish and set on oven rack to melt.

While that is melting, go ahead and wash and pit your 4 cups of cherries. For a quick way of pitting cherries, use a hard straw and poke the straw through, thus popping the seed out of the center. Super quick and easy! I used a kiddie straw we had here and so it was a nice stiff one and it minimized hand stainage *minimize not eliminate!

In a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, and baking powder and a bit of cinnamon. Stir in milk and vanilla

Remove baking dish from oven as soon as butter or margarine is melted. Pour flour mixture into dish, but DO NOT STIR. Pour fruit evenly into pan, and DO NOT STIR. (Can you tell you are not supposed to stir?)

Now when I made it, I baked it at 275 for 60 minutes and 350 for 20 minutes. I also add more flour and sugar to thicken it up a bit more. Easy and oh so good!

Edamame (Eh-dah-MAH-meh)

I have been having blood sugar problems for awhile, and it has gotten worse since I have had the boys. Lately, I seem to be having an attack a few times a week. (I need to stop postponing the doctor appointment and just go already)

I have been hearing a lot about edamame lately, and have been wanting to try it. It sealed the deal for me when I read about it in the paper and its blood sugar leveling abilities.

I bought a bag of it today to try and it is surprisingly good! I haven't bought the frozen kind yet, but wanted to try them roasted first. Even the boys can benefit from this nutritious snack!

Hanging Tomato Plant

Micah saw this cool idea online the other day and my mom happened to give me a tomato plant at the same time, so we made this together.

What you need:
tomato plant, preferably a small one 2 liter clean bottle hot glue hole punch wire heat gun (or you can skip that step) and pliers fabric, burlap, whatever potting soil tomato plant

optional:
flowers to plant on the top ribbon to finish the edges

Directions

• cut off the bottom of the 2 liter (you can reuse the bottom by making into a flower but thats a whole different post)
• punch four holes for the hanger
• carefully heat plastic and use pliers to invert the neck of bottle into itself
• cover bottle with fabric *and ribbon, this will dress it up and also help the lifespan of the bottle in the sun
• carefully place tomato plant at a bit of an angle inside the part you just inverted (the bottle opening) and fill up with potting soil. on the other side
• attach hanger
• water and hang!

You can also put flowers at the top to make it a hanging plant as well.

Here it is in its tiny glory.

And the best part of this was, we don't need a tomato plant cage/stand because of gravity, we recycled and we used everything from what we already had! Pin It
