Canning

I think I am going to start canning- if not this summer, definitely next. I have been looking at books all weekend on how to start, and it looks fairly simple once you get the food and jars to prepare it all!
Anyone else can things before?

I helped my grandma with it sometimes when I was little. I am interested in trying some canning myself! Maybe we can take a Saturday sometime and do it together! :)

Ok you asked for it. Canned tons back when I lived in Iowa. Had a huge garden and canned tomatos, beans, beets, peaches, and made and canned spaghetti sauce and ketchup. Homemade ketchup is the very best. also canned pickle relish and many more things. I was quite the little homemaker at the time. Plus worked full time in ICU. Loved the canning and freezing sherry

I have canned with my grandma, but now the latest thing is to freeze stuff. I freeze peaches. They are much better than the canned ones...there's nothing better than a fresh peach in the middle of winter! They also hold their color and flavor better.

Let me know if you want to know how. The process is also simpler than canning. Good Luck!
